“Sustainable Hotel and Tourism Development” (SHTD) is the newest Consulting brand of RUES Hotel Selection EcoFriendly Hotels Worldwide. That is based on Eberhardt Rues’ pioneer and challenging projects on five continents since the 1970’s, pursuing our long term objectives toward “Conversation - Education - Sustainable Tourism Development.” That focus on our philosophy “Working Together” and on its roots of the first “RUES EcoLodge and Private Nature Conservancy” in the Amazon in Ecuador, in 1976. SHTD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting responsible tourism development projects around the world.

The Dual Education system is SHTD’s top priority in the years ahead, by means of implementing, training and learning centers at independent and chain hotels in conjunction with the launch of “Environmentally oriented Curriculas” at hotel schools and universities.

Today’s “global environmental and economic crises” require the integration of problem solving strategies within the hospitality and tourism industry.
