Cuba, Havana, 2007
In August 2007, I joined the delegation of an official church visit of the Florida – Bahamas Synod, ELCA – Evangelic Lutheran Church of America – to attend the “100th Anniversary Celebration” of the “Iglesia Evangelica de Confesion Luterana en Cuba” (IECLC) in Nueva Gerona, Isle of Youth, on August 18, 2007.
My mission was twofold: To enhance the principles of “Tourism promotes Peace” among all nations. As well to introduce the project proposal of “Environmental Learning and Investigation Center” for the Cuban project of PLEMASE - Patrullas Luteranas para la Ecologia, Medio Ambiente Sostenible y la Educacion – of the IECLC.
We stayed on the Isla de la Juventud, 6 days (from 08/17/08 to 08/22/2007) luckily the hurricane Jean, did not hit the island during that period. On our 4 hours stop in Havana, I had the chance to visit the city center, and took some pictures. Pictures of the Isle of Youth you can see on the following page.
